“The Bag Lady”

This morning  I had a customer, not unusual, even though she arrived much earlier than our 10a.m. opening time, in fact it was 8.30, but a customer is a customer and working from home we do tend to get a few ‘out of hours’ customers.  Anyway back to the story, this lovely lady arrived complete with what I found out to be her grand-daughter.  They wondered around the shop and the wee one (about 6) chose various fabrics  she liked and ooood and ahhhhd at the nik nacks she found and even pleaded to have one of the hanging crystals p-l-e-a-s-e she begged.  017 Grandma was fair but firm and suggested that maybe she could find a nice bit of ribbon for her hair, that had little impact, then she came across the collection of bags that I had made for sale.  P-l-e-a-s-e,  she begged, ‘the bag lady’ wouldn’t mind, I can have one of hers she’s got lots.  Well! it’s the first time I’ve been called a bag lady!  Maybe it’s time for a change of wardrobe!

Later on little miss Faith came to visit, with mummy in tow.  When she visits I put the dogs outside as this little 18 month old has a habit of terrorising both dogs as kids that age do.  Once the initial search and destroy was over and done with she focussed on Polly’s (the miniature foxy) bed.
Out came the base cushion then the liner, then she tried all ways to fit herself into it.  If only dogs could talk012 – Polly stood at the ranch-slider looking on with  absolute horror on her face.  She glared at Faith and was gob smacked,  looking like one of those cartoons with a thought bubble out of her head full of  #**#@*!  One day, when this wee treasure is old enough to be embarrassed I’m going to take great delight in pulling these photos out.
Meanwhile Mr BHQ has finally managed to get the odd e-mail to us.  He’s enjoying the regular 37 degree heat even though the high humidity is draining.  However it hasn’t stopped him running.  Not long after arriving in Timor he set off out for a gentle 2km run. As he tells it he took a wrong turn somewhere in the bush and nearly 10km later found his way home.  Not being a runner and having never seen one out on a run with a smile on their face, I laughed my head off – no sympathy at all.  I mean who in there right mind would run, by choice, in that heat?  Talk about mad dogs and Englishmen (or in this case, kiwi’s).
I guess that is it for now, Christmas is fast approaching and I hope like me, you are able to enjoy family and friends.
