Almost finished

For a few months now I have been part of a Stitch-a-long that Chookyblue organised.  Many of us signed up to make 'A Gardeners Journal' by Annie Downs.  Chooky set the plan and each month we were to post the block that we had stitched complete with pictures.  I think a few fell by the wayside but from some of the pictures it would seem that many really got stuck in.  004 I did miss a month (due to illness) but once I got back at the machine there was no stopping me and just to make sure I stayed with it Mother Nature stepped in and gave us the crappiest weather you could wish for - just perfect for a day or two indoors sewing.  Well, things were going just great, so I carried on sewing and before I knew it the top was finished.
I'm sure Chookyblue has spent hours ensuring that our posts were recorded on the side bar and I'd just like to thank her and the many others that volunteer their time to create these types of things that get some of us moving.
Have a great weekend everyone

A posting and the postie

OK so I finally got the camera out and took a quick pic of the GJ block that I made.004  You know I was so darned pleased with myself, finally I was back on track - huh, I thought!  What a dumb****, I did the wrong block!  Never mind, at least it's done.
heart
Today, along with the regular mail a wee 013 package from Canada found it's way into my mail box. Hee Hee, a parcel for me.  So, I contained my excitement long enough to get the camera and do the photy thingy so you could all see what the postie delivered.
Mmmm, return address, Kaaren from The Painted Quilt.  Oh blow this business of taking pics each step of the grand opening.  I just ripped into it.  Look what that wonderful woman sent to me016.  Firstly there was this beautiful ribbon embroidered pouch.  Look at the detail on it - it's gorgeous.  But wait, what is that I can feel inside?

007 Oh my goodness, looky here.  A needle case made by our own Kaaren - WOW, isn't it just gorgeous?  But wait, there's more...
014

Look at this little gem.  A new scissor fob - yeah, just perfect for the new wee pair of scissors I treated myself to when my fingers did the shopping on line.
Thank you Kaaren, these treasures will be used and will remind me of your kindness.
Technology has opened up a whole new world to us and our circle of friends continues to stretch right around the globe.  Isn't it awesome.
Have a wonderful week
hugs to you all

Mmmm, gremlins in the works

I'm not sure if I'm the only one with this problem or what, but for some reason 'Live Writer isn't letting me show links.  This all started a couple of weeks back.  I tried , or thought I had posted a quilt on Amy's Creative Side for the Bloggers Quilt Festival. In fact I was sure I had until a friend and I were talking and she mentioned the festival. I told her that I had one on there, she hadn't seen it so I went checking.  Sure enough it wasn't there so I had another go.  Between Live Writer and "Mr Linky" I just couldn't get the link to post - very frustrating.  Can anyone out there tell me if they have had the same problem? Live Writer is usually so reliable but I really think something is going wrong here... Help!!

Another gremlin arrived today. Realising that today is the last day of the month I really needed to complete Block A for a Gardeners Journal SAL.  Everything seemed to be going along fine, I even managed to post my block completion, whew, another job done001.  Knowing that there had been a few hiccups when posting lately I went back and checked the SAL blog to make sure it had posted, yep all fine.  So I looked at the other blocks that had been completed - oh no!! My block was upside down, compared to others, sob.

Later I got stuck into making a Tilda bee.  They are so cute and after reading the instructions I confidently got stuck in - all going fine.  Stuffing starting with the arms and then attaching them - how easy could they be.  No, gremlins again... one arm up, one arm down. Humph, time to stop sewing put the kettle on and find the biscuits I made last week.

I'll have another go at sewing tomorrow that is if we aren't too busy.  Our birthday sale starts then.  On that note, Wow, what a response to my last post, and if you haven't read it, I'll remind you to sign up for my give away,  it's not being drawn until the 3rd so you still have time.  Good luck.

Stickability?

To all Mothers out there , Happy Mothers Day.  As a proud mum and grandma I think every day is Mothers Day, especially those days that I get to spend with daughters and grand-daughters.  Speaking of which, yesterday I looked after Miss Faith, she's growing so fast now and although doesn't speak much she has a way to get her point across.

This little girl has a Daddy who owns an enormous truck and a couple of diggers and drives (if that's what you do) junior digger a crane that Faith can identify from afar.  So it was no surprise when one of her first words said loud and clear was digger!

Speaking of Daddy's, our man is due home within six weeks.  In some ways the last five months have flown by, in other ways it has been a long hard slog.

I'm not sure if I can blame the onset of Winter for the restlessness that has come over me with regards to my stitching lately. Has anybody else developed this problem or am I the only slacker around here?  The weather certainly has been conducive to staying indoors, with only a couple of fine days in the last two or three weeks. The ground is saturated and there is a quite a bit of surface flooding around the section.   Having become a great025'starter' I'm struggling to stick with projects and get the darned things finished.  Which is why projects like Gardener's Journal have been so great as I can pick them up in between other starts.  On that note I guess I should toodle off and get stitching.

To all you Mums out there, have a wonderful day.

Yeah! Can I please have a 'G'?

Hooray, at long last I have turned the power on and actually done some piecing in the Stitch A Long for the Gardeners Journal Quilt.002 After fiddling around with the colours of my fabric selection I finally replaced the 'pinky' one with another that has just a touch more terracotta in it, plus, I've decided to add some of my border fabric into the piecing - just to tie it all together a wee bit more.
On to the next block ,
hugs
